Remember me?

Wow, it feels like for ever and a day since I have blogged, but I have been rather busy creating new things and playing mum, wife and employee.  Sometimes life gets so very busy!!  But it is all good and I wanted to share my newest little friends that I have been working on over the last week with you.  The lovely Vanessa asked me to do some Babushka dolls and owls, so here are some of the Babushka dolls.  The owls are still ideas floating around in my head, at this stage.

Colour Fun

**20% sale on all Sugarbird items at www.hand-made.com.au/sugarbird**

Oh wow, I just discovered that thanks to you lovely people I have passed the 3,000 hits on the blog!  A very BIG THANK YOU to every one of you who as visited and/or left a comment!
I will be announcing a GIVEAWAY to celebrate in the next couple of days.

I think it is always fun to step outside your creative comfort zone and try something a little bit different.  Lately for me it has been not going near the pink and purple colours I have become rather fond of.  Some of the results have been pleasantly surprising and other I must admit have been complete disasters and found their way into the bin!!
Here are a few things that didn't make it into the bin :)

And just in case you are a bit bored with the flowers....here are some bracelets, not featuring pink and purple (well, maybe a little purple)  They are available in my Facebook shop and madeit shop for $6.00 ea

Christmas Cards

I am still madly and deeply in love with the trusty old white pigment ink at the moment.  Especially once I discovered that Kaisercraft have about a billion different coloured cardstock to play with!!
Here are some Christmas cards that are now available in my madeit and facebook shops.

Citrus Fun

I have been playing around with colours other than pink and purple lately, and I must say that it has been a lot of fun.  I am thinking of calling this my 'Citrus Phase'.

Accordion Book

Somebody mentioned on Sugarbird's facebook page the other day that they would love to see how I make my Accordion books (hi Noemi) So I thought I would share how I made one of my latest ones.  I am still having great fun with the white pigment ink, but think after this weekend I will move on to other things.  It has just about run its course........for now.

Firstly, I cut two strips of card stock and lightly marked where the folds would be, in pencil.  Then I glued the light green and brown discs into place, making sure to place them away from where the folds would be.  Then I decorated the discs and started the freehand flower drawing (my favourite part)

Notice that I didn't draw near the edges where the two strips join.  Once they were joined and the accordion folds were made I then completed the drawing so the images look seamless.

The final steps were to add the text in the brown discs, the ribbon to the back cover and then a front and back cover piece. All attachments were done with double sided tape.

And there you have it.  One completely handmade, one of a kind, original little accordion book, which will be shuffling over to Sugarbird's facebook shop in the next couple of days :)

Pendant Fun!

A selection of these pendants are available there for $10ea.  Shipping to anywhere in the world

I dusted off the polymer clay and jewellery making tools last week and had a play with some pendant ideas.  I firstly moulded the clay into an assortment of metal bases and then baked them.

Once the clay was baked I popped them out of there frames, gave them a light sand and glued them back into place.  Then with my "never far away" white pigment ink and a nib, I draw the designs onto the clay and gave the images a coat of varnish.

Then it was onto the the fun part of adding the cord, beads and charms.  All of the beads have wrapped loops.

I did of course have  to keep one.  They sit really nicely when worn and who wouldn't want to wear a piece of original artwork :)

Catch up weekend

I mentioned to someone yesterday that I was planning to do a post over the weekend (hi Noemi) and I guess with 2 hours to go, I have made it.  But this is really the first time all weekend I have been near the computer.

I have spent a lot of the weekend playing catch up with the much neglected housework and yard chores.  But I did have a rather creative week last week and I took lots of photos so hear are some of what I have been up to....

I completed some cards

And started some pendants

Check in again tomorrow and I will (hopefully) have the pendants completed and ready for sale.  I hope your weekend was as productive as mine, but more creative :)
