Birdy Book - Part 2

As promised yesterday, here are the final pages of the YOU book.  As per usual, I had so much fun making it that I have convinced myself that I really need to make another one.  I will let you know when that happens.

Also stay tuned.....  I had have almost reached 1000 visitors to my blog so I thought I would celebrate by having another give away once the 1000 is reached.

Birdy Book

I know that technically this is still a "little" book, but for me this is rather large (7.5 x 7.5cm) and it was so much fun.  I was able to add more details (you know how I like those) and really work on the colour pencil shading.

And even though the images may be quirky and fun, to me the sayings are rules for life.

Check in tomorrow for the other couple of pages.

Hoot to you

Hoot and his friends have flown into my madeit shop for a visit.  These cards, matching envelopes and tags are hand drawn using fine line markers on acid free paper.  The details on their tummies were a lot of fun and a nice change from the usual flowers and swirly things.

Creative Flu

I have had the flu this week.  Our very generous 9 year old came home with it Monday and shared it around.  The boys got over it in about 24 hours, but mine decided to linger longer.  All I could manage to do was drag myself to work, drag myself home and sit on the lounge.  BUT, you know me, I cant JUST sit, so I started a new set of drawings.  Actually I stated one drawing and enjoyed the detailing of it so much that I just had to make more!!

And this is where the creativity stopped....I am over the flu and have housework to catch up on and more importantly my beloved ZIG pen ran out!!  2 years of faithful service and it just up and quit on me.  So until I go shopping (HATE shopping - but that is another whole blog in itself) these will be unfinished projects.  Oh well, I am SURE I can find something else to do :)

Tag....you're it!!

Flowers, flowers, flowers......I LOVE drawing my made up flowers - it would be fun to actually see them growing in the garden.  But for now these ones are growing on gift tags.

First up, I draw the flowers onto the scrapbooking paper and add all of the swirls, lines and dots.

Then with small sharp scissors I cut out the flowers, arrange them on the gift tag and see if they look as good in real life as they did as an idea in my head.
The layout for these looked OK but I thought the brown background looked a bit plain.  So I got out my trusty white marker and detailed it up a bit.

And this is the end result.   I enjoyed making these so much that I think I will do some more in other colours.....the world can never have enough gift tags :)

Wonder Words

Have you ever thought about the importance of words.  You know, a kind word can make someones day, a harsh word can upset someone.  I have discovered while making my little books that positive words and phrases can be powerfully uplifting.  So I was thrilled to come across these Tibetan silver charms, with some of my favourite words on them.  I think they make simple, but lovely bracelets.....let me know what you think or maybe even share your favourite word or phrase with me :)

TIME WATCHING

As predicted, the little books have run their course (for now) and are out of my system (for now).  So all of the paper, pens, pencils, glue etc have been packed away and all of the jewellery making paraphenailia has been brought out.  I did some more watches for my shops, as Mothers Day saw a few of the listed ones posted off.

I really like the bird cage one (funny that) and just for something different I have done a girl's Kitty one.  It is not as long as the others.  I like to do wrapped loops for the crystals as this makes them extra strong.

I did 5 in total but gave the birdcage one to a family friend for Mothers Day - it was that or keep it for myself and lord knows I have enough!!

Happy Mothers Day

To all of the Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, Sisters, Godmothers and family friends out there who are important to us all - I wish you a very Happy Mothers Day xxx
I thought I would share some of the flowers that we saw at the park today, with you, as my gift to you.

Considering that about 8 months ago I didn't even know how to turn the digital camera on - I have really impressed myself with these shots.  Even the technologically challenged can learn :)

Had Enough Yet?

I hope you are not too sick of the posts about my little books - because here is another one!  But I promise that this will be the last for a little while (well, maybe second to last)  I find that I get a run on making a certain thing and once I have had enough of that, I pack it up and move onto the next thing.  I am almost at that stage with the little books now.  The ones below are more of the lovely Sharyn's order.  (*wave* hi Sharyn.)

Don't forget to leave a comment to be in with a chance to win my first giveaway.
See post dated Saturday 5th May 2012 for details.
IT ENDS TOMORROW!!!

Almost finished - just the last one to put together.  Making boy ones stretches the imagination for me because I love drawing flowers and nice swirly girlie things :)

And finished.  This means I am half way through Sharyns order (10 to go)  so expect to see more photos of little books down the track.

Snooze-fest

It is Friday yet???  I am not wishing my life away, but it has been a rather busy week so far and I am really, really, really looking forward to a sleep-in on Saturday.....or being reincarnated as a cat :)

Joey the Wonder Cat loves the lounge, especially my spot as soon as I get out of it.

Card Creations

Don't forget to leave a comment to be in with a chance to win my first giveaway.
See post dated Saturday 5th May 2012 for details.

It's a public holiday today in QLD - yipppeee.   So we have been to the park and I have also finished some cards I was working on over the last couple of days.  I thought you might like to see the "work on progress" photos as well as the finished products.  I drew the images from my head onto scrapbooking paper and then outlined them with brown fine line marker.  Then my favourite part, colouring them in.  After that more details were added with marker and finally they were added to the cards.  Let me know what you think :)

GIVEAWAY TIME

OK people, listen up......I am putting my fragile little ego on the line and having my first (of many I hope) giveaways.  All you have to do is leave a comment between now and next Saturday, 12th May, 2pm AEST, on any of my posts. At that time I will randomly pick a comment and announce the winner

I think it only fair seeing as I have been blogging a lot about little books lately, that one of them is the giveaway.

This little book is titled BOOK OF LOVE and is 4cm x 4cm in size.  All words an images are hand drawn using fine line markers on acid free paper.  Even the white writing on the green paper is hand done.  So get commenting, tell your friends, spread the word.  This little cutie could be on its way to you next week :)

Flowers and Words

Aaaaahhhhh - nothing better than a good cup of coffee, Supernatural on DVD, a quiet house and the creative bliss of doing something you love.  Know what I mean?  Last night I finished another two books, and I must say that I am rather happy with them :)  The flowers and words were hand drawn.   They are not really little books as they measure 5cm x 5cm, but they are still small and cute.  These are now residing in my madeit and hand-made shops.

A big hug

A big hug for my lovely customer Sharyn, who sent me this beautifully handmade card and on the inside wrote the complete Serenity Prayer for me.  I am so lucky to know such creative and sharing people!  I know the first part of the Serenity Prayer off by heart and had a vague inkling of the second.  But now I have it all.   I think I will have to make a little book with the whole prayer in it some time in the not too distant future :)

Below is the first Serenity Prayer book that I created.  I also have another one on my desk at work and it comes in rather handy at times.
